Logging into Genshin Impact without a plan is an easy way to burn time - or worse, leave free resources sitting on the table. A clean Genshin Impact daily routine keeps your account scaling whether you have three minutes or three hours. Best of all, the structure flexes around your schedule and adapts as your roster grows.

Choose a Time Budget

A character stands on a cliff overlooking a vast, colorful landscape with multiple distinct regions and floating structures in the

Not every day plays out the same. Some evenings give you hours to explore; other days you're scrambling just to log in before bed. That's why step one is getting real about your actual time budget.

Here are three practical tiers to plan around:

  • Minimal/maintenance (3 - 10 minutes): Bare non-negotiables - capping resource leaks and keeping streaks alive.
  • Standard/efficient (15 - 25 minutes): Everything that reliably moves account progression forward each day.
  • Full/expansive (30+ minutes): A full session packing exploration, extra farming runs, and side content on top of the basics.

A handy trick used by plenty of players: condense your resin first thing in the morning, then wrap up commissions and other chores later in the evening. Splitting your time like this makes even a full routine feel like less of a grind. Each section below maps directly to one of these tiers so you can jump straight to what works for you.

Daily Essentials

These four tasks form the backbone of any login, no matter how much time you have. Tackle them first - skipping out here means leaving resources on the floor.

Daily commissions and Encounter Points stay one of your most reliable daily sources of Primogems. Complete four commissions, use Encounter Points, or mix the two methods to fill the four daily reward claims. Encounter Points unlock at AR24. After the four claims are unlocked, visit Katheryne for the bonus commission reward; regular Encounter Points must be claimed before the daily reset.

Original Resin is your most time-sensitive currency. It caps out at 200, and any extra generated beyond that limit disappears forever.

  • Dump resin into your immediate account bottleneck: character ascension mats, talent or weapon domains, or weekly bosses.
  • Short on time? Turn it into Condensed Resin to stash it away.
  • Whatever you do, don't leave it capped overnight.

Expeditions run passively and take just a few seconds to reset. Unlocked at AR14 with extra slots opening at higher Adventure Ranks, they fetch Mora, ore, or cooking ingredients. Just swap characters back out while handling the rest of your checklist.

Mail and check-in rewards take less than a minute. Skim your in-game mailbox for event or update freebies, and collect the HoYoLAB daily check-in if you use it.

On the busiest days, focus on resin and commissions/Encounter Points - these prevent resource loss and keep your account progressing.

Short Session

Three to ten minutes is all you need to keep your account afloat. The point here isn't pushing overall progress - it's plain damage control.

The fast-login sequence:

  1. Open mail and grab any pending rewards.
  2. Claim any available commission or Encounter Point rewards; you can mix the two methods to fill your four daily claims.
  3. Condense resin or spend it quickly on one domain run.
  4. Collect expedition rewards and immediately send characters back out.

That's really it. Quests, map clearing, events, and artifact domains can all wait until you have more room to breathe.

Condensing resin and swapping expeditions can be handled in under five minutes once the habit is automatic.

If your schedule shifts around, craft your Condensed Resin early so the daily cap stays off your back. Then wrap up commissions or claim Encounter Point rewards whenever you find a free moment. You don't have to knock out both halves in one sitting.

Full Session

A 20-to-30-plus-minute block gives you space to make actual headway instead of just treading water. Hit the essentials first - always - then start stacking extra goals.

Once commissions, resin, and expeditions are put to bed, a longer session usually looks like this:

  1. Spend resin intentionally - domains for talent and weapon materials take priority through the midgame; artifact domains become much more attractive at AR45, when the highest difficulty guarantees at least one 5-star artifact per standard 20-Resin claim.
  2. Explore the map - unlock waypoints, grab Oculi, open chests, and scoop up local specialty materials.
  3. Farm ascension materials - run mining routes, gather plants, or check vendors based on what your active team needs.
  4. Complete Battle Pass daily tasks - the Battle Pass unlocks at AR20, and its daily missions give Battle Pass EXP toward its reward track.
  5. Visit the Serenitea Pot - collect Realm Currency and claim Realm Bounty before their storage caps out.
  6. Upgrade one thing - dump your resources into single milestones (one level tier, weapon, or talent) each session rather than spreading materials all over the place.
  7. Optional content - tackle active events, clear world quests, or test your roster in the Spiral Abyss.

Completing time-gated tasks first (resin, commissions, expeditions) makes the rest of your session more flexible and efficient.

Don't feel pressured to rush map exploration. Stumbling into a hidden chest or triggering a world quest naturally is easily one of the best parts of the game - let those moments happen on their own instead of treating the map like a daily chore list.

Weekly Priorities

Several Genshin Impact characters, including Nahida, Nilou, and Dehya, standing in a lush green environment with a large tree in

Dailies are key, but weekly resets bring heavy rewards that can slip right past you if you leave them for the weekend.

  • Weekly bosses: Your first three weekly-boss reward claims each week cost half resin - don't throw away those discounts.
  • Battle Pass weekly missions: Knock these out gradually across the week or clear them all in one dedicated sitting.
  • Spiral Abyss: Push floors for extra Primogems as your team gets stronger; its repeatable floors refresh twice per month, so keep an eye on the clock.
  • Serenitea Pot realm currency: Grab your earnings before the housing limit caps out.
  • Local specialties and overworld materials: Map out a quick gathering route for the ascensions you need; these materials respawn over time rather than on a single weekly reset.

Getting weekly bosses and Abyss clears out of the way early avoids that stressful last-minute rush before a reset. Teapot duties and Battle Pass tasks give you far more wiggle room, so feel free to batch them whenever your schedule permits.

Account-Stage Adjustments

A daily routine tailored for AR10 makes zero sense at AR50. Forcing late-game priorities onto an early account just wastes time and resources.

Early game (AR1 - 20): Don't stress over min-maxing resin or gear sets. Focus mainly on story quests, opening up the map, and assembling a solid core team of four reliable characters. Splitting your resources across too many bench units early on only drags down your mid-game momentum.

Midgame (AR20 - 45): Pivot toward character ascensions, weapon levels, talent books, and Battle Pass objectives. Artifact domains before AR45 are usually a lower priority because the highest domain difficulty, which guarantees at least one 5-star artifact per standard 20-Resin claim, unlocks at AR45. Your daily commissions and material domain runs generally offer better progression value here.

Late game (AR45+): Artifact domains often become a major resin destination once core upgrade materials are covered. Min-maxing team comps, pushing deeper Abyss floors, and maxing core talents come into focus. If you're pushing higher floors, check out the Genshin Impact Spiral Abyss guide for advanced team building and mechanics.

Regardless of your AR, save your Primogems for limited character banners. Dumping heavy resources into weapons or units that won't see long-term play is one of the easiest ways to stall out your account progression.

What to Skip

Knowing what to skip is just as critical as knowing what to clear. On busy days, trim the fat without second-guessing it.

Safe to skip or defer:

  • Map exploration and world quests - push these to free weekends.
  • Artifact domains before hitting AR45 if your current pieces are sufficient.
  • Casual event stages and teapot housing work if there's no immediate reward timer expiring.
  • Battle Pass missions if you haven't finished core progression goals yet.
  • Pouring resources into bench units or weapons outside your active lineup.

Never skip:

  • Spending or condensing resin before it caps out.
  • Claiming your daily commission or Encounter Point payout.
  • Gathering and re-sending passive expeditions.

Skipping daily essentials (resin, commissions/Encounter Points, expeditions) can slow your account growth - prioritize these even on busy days.

Side content is truly optional. The essentials earn that label for a reason.
