Both drills rely on controlled, deliberate movement with zero rushing. After a proper warm-up, you should feel locked in and ready - not worn out or frustrated. If your hand feels fatigued before the main session even starts, your warm-up was way too intense.
Deathmatch is not my preferred warm-up tool. Its pace and unpredictability can make it harder to ease into mechanics cleanly. Save it for later in the session.

These three mechanics are distinct - and treating them as the same thing will stall your progress hard.
Tracking is all about smoothly sticking to a target that's already moving. Flicking is the quick snap to a new spot. Micro-adjustments are those tiny corrective nudges right after a flick lands - closing the gap between "close enough" and "headshot."
Targeted drills for each:
- Tracking drill - follow strafing bots in The Range, focusing on smooth, jitter-free mouse movement. Don't shoot right away; focus on tracking first.
- Two-Target Snap - alternate snapping between two bot heads and firing. Make sure each snap lands cleanly before trying to speed up.
- Micro-adjustment drill - start your crosshair slightly off-target on purpose, then adjust and shoot. The aim here is minimizing overcorrection, not eliminating the correction step entirely.
Across all three drills, keeping head-level crosshair placement should remain a priority. Stick to the same weapon and sensitivity across a training block or comparison period; changing either can make your results harder to compare. Resist the urge to rush flicking drills, too. Over-flicking and chasing speed before securing accuracy just builds bad habits that are brutal to break later.
Movement and counter-strafing
Gun accuracy in Valorant is strongly affected by your movement state when the shot is fired. Moving while firing can make shots less accurate, especially at range, so stopping before the shot is a strong default. For these benchmarks to tell an accurate story, keep the conditions similar every week - same gun, same distance, and, where practical, the same time of day. Changing variables makes the comparison less clean.
Your Deathmatch performance serves as a useful reality check, too. Finishing consistently near the top of the board or hitting a steady kill mark can suggest that your Range practice is transferring over to actual fights, but it does not measure aim alone.
If your benchmarks improve but ranked performance does not, focus on decision-making and game sense, not just aim.
